How smoothly do they write. I have always wanted to try making and using a feather dip pen but I always imagined that they would be extremely scratchy writers. I like the result and it stretches the ink really far!<br /><br />As far as how many lines: That whole paragraph of text you see in the photos is just one dip! That's approx. 7 lines on a standard collage ruled notebook! It's as simple as just cutting the nib shape!<br /><br />I'll try and get a tutorial up when I have the time. As far as a substitute for bamboo, I don't know. The bamboo works so well because it's already hollow.
