You guys have been doing great so far! Hopefully it won't be much longer before we reach the end and the four winners are chosen!
To keep things fresh and updated I've got two things to talk about today.

- What to do to speed up the free-giveaway
Let's start out with a re-cap of what this free give-away is all about and what's up for grabs!
The free give-away was started exactly 2 weeks ago as a fun little contest to both promote this blog, and to give people a chance to win some neat prizes. There are four prizes being given:
1st Prize: A Jinhao 500 fountain pen with a custom ground 777 - CI nib. This pen is a really great pen and it's even better than normal with one of my custom cursive italic grinds on it. Here are some pictures:
That's what the first prize winner gets! It's lovely pen, isn't it. :)
2nd, 3rd, and 4th Prize: All three of these are the same. Whoever wins the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th prize will be allowed to send in one pen for a free custom nib grind! They will have their choice of a stub, crisp-italic, or cursive italic. If you've been wanting to try out a nib grind, this is your chance to do so for absolutely nothing!
How to enter:
Entering the contest is super easy! All you need to do is leave a comment below this post, or the original give-away post. Your comment must be left under a name. A username or real name is fine but anonymous comments will be removed. Also you must state which ink you would like to use first in the Jinhao 500 if you were to win it.
Rules:
The rules are simple. You do not have to do anything other than comment to win. However, no prizes will be given until I have reached the goal of 100 subscribers. This makes it easy to enter since there are no obligations. The 100 subscribers in your incentive! While you don't have to subscribe, you won't have any chance of winning unless the 100-subscriber goal is met.
Right now we've got 56 subscribers! So far you all have been doing a great job. Your subscriptions and participation have been awesome! Keep up the excellent work. :)
How to speed things up:
We only need 44 more subscribers to finish things up and give away the prizes. Here's what you're going to want to do to speed things up:
- First off, subscribe now if you haven't already. Each subscriber counts and your subscribing gets everybody closer to finishing the give-away.
- Share this with a friend. Let others know about this so they can have a chance to win too. You could share it on facebook, tweet it, or post it on any other social networking site!
- Post about this on your own blog if you've got one. The more people, the greater the chance of finishing soon.

I'm new to fountain pens but just can't seem to get enough info. My first pen was a Pelikan M425 I bought from a fellow FPN member. And next I Bought a vintage Parker Duofold Lucky Curve and a 51 last week found from the local Craiglist. It was fun to learn the history. Seems like father's day prompted people to go through their father's stuff and sell their pens. The Duofold was from a doctor who used it in daily work, the 51 was from a funeral director that used it to sign death certificates, including the certificate of a nun that helped teach and educate the man (son) who sold it to me.
ReplyDeleteBoth of them need repair work. Your blog is helpful. My father has a garage full of tools, including those rubber coated section pliers. He also used to do help provide tools and repair for dentistry, so he probably has a bunch of scraping tools. I can't wait to try fixing up those pens.
If I had that Jinhao 500, I would try it with my current favorite ink: Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo.
Very interesting story. - Thank you for sharing! Good first pen you had. :) My first was a cheap Chinese pen. My first "good" pen was a Parker 51. Awesome pen!

Very nice pen! U;d try it first with a vivid, deep black like Private Reserve's Black Velvet...but would like to use to explore one of the muted red colors. There's someting retro-classic about the checkerboard motif that takes me back to the '60's...it's an instrument Diana Rigg might have carried on "The Avengers."
